Woolston Rovers Under 18s lost their unbeaten record when they were defeated at Blackbrook Royals in the North West Counties Premier Division on Sunday
Both teams went into the game having not lost so far this year and it was the home side who came out on top to replace Rovers at the top of the league table.
The first half was very tight with Blackbrook scoring the only try to lead 4-0 at the break but then in the second half they took control to pull away from Rovers and record a deserved 22-4 win
Rovers only try of the game came via hooker Kieran Moore,
Best for Rovers were hooker Kieran Moore, centre Ross McGlone and full back Will Ridge.
After the game Rovers Coach John Morris said, “It was disappointing to lose our first game of the season but I cannot fault the effort of the lads. We had a few players missing but still had a strong side but on the day Blackbrook controlled the game better and got the win. We will dust ourselves down and get back to work in readiness for our game next Sunday at Halton Farnworth Hornets in the Lancashire Cup.”
