Woolston Rovers Wizards Golds Under 14s set off on a tour to Catalans this Saturday for a week’s trip...

The trip will consist of playing two games of Rugby League as well as a trip to Go Ape, canyoning, mountain biking down the Pyrenees, kayaking in the Mediterranean Sea and white water rafting.

There has been an incredible amount of work put in by many people over the past two years to fund the trip including auctions, a lad's v dad's game, bike rides, raffles and also help from the lottery. We are also very grateful to our Tour Sponsors - Adele Carr Financial Recruitment, TileStyle Conservatories and Drive Dynamics. Also Ashcroft Travel, Widnes who have given a great deal to take us to and from Liverpool Airport and Catalan Sports Tours who will take care of all travel arrangements once we arrive in Barcelona.

The tour party will consist of 19 players, 3 coaches and 33 family members making a total off 55 people representing the great Woolston Rovers club. It is going to be a very enjoyable trip and the kids will gain memories from this that will last them a lifetime.

Head Coach Scott Bolton said, “This really is a dream come true for us to be embarking on this trip. Everybody involved with their team have worked tirelessly over the past two years to ensure the money was raised to enable us to undertake this trip. The help we have been given from our three tour sponsors has been terrific and we are very grateful. We also have to thank everybody who has donated prizes for our numerous raffles and sponsored our bike rides. It has been hard work but it has all been worth it and we will now travel to Catalans and represent the great Woolston Rovers club with pride.”

Club PRO Dave Whalley added, “We are really proud of all the hard work that the Under 14s Golds have put in to make this tour a reality and the whole club wishes them well. It will be an unbelievable opportunity for all the players, coaches and their families and we look forward to following their progress throughout the week.”

The team will leave Monks Sports Club at 3pm on Saturday and before they leave they will be invited onto the pitch before the Past v Present game for a farewell photograph.
