Woolston Rovers tradition of developing young players who go on to gain International Selection continues...

...with 17 year old Chris Twigg who has been selected for the Thailand Rugby Football League squad to play Malta in Chiang Mai in October. The game is being branded as the biggest Rugby League game in Asian history with Malta ranked 18th in the world.
Woolston PRO Dave Whalley said “Chris joined Woolston at the beginning of last season after being released from the Warrington Wolves academy and he has developed hugely as a player and person while at the club and under the coaching of John Fieldhouse. We are absolutely delighted that he will add his name the club’s list of International players.”
Chris, from Tarvin near Chester, qualifies for Thailand through his grandmother and he said that he is “buzzing” about being selected to join the Thai squad and just can’t wait for October. I am honoured to be given the chance to represent Thailand and I hope to do the Woolston club proud.”
Peter Thompson, President of the Thai RFL said “We have been watching Chris for a couple of years and have been very impressed with his speed, athleticism and goal kicking. Chris will be joined by several other Thai heritage players based in England and we are sure they will make a big contribution to the squad.”
