City fall to two early goals at The J Davidson Stadium

In this afternoon's Vanarama National League North tie at The J Davidson Stadium, City fell to two early goals against basement boys, Altrincham.

The first goal came in spectactular fashion, after only 12 seconds. Altrincham kicked off and moved the ball left to former City winger, Micah Evans. The forward cut inside and laid off to Newby, who slotted home past Ethan Ross.

The lead was then doubled on 12 minutes by the hosts. A long free kick was sent in to the City box. Tom Sharpe rose to clear but his header landed at the feet of Chris Lynch, who smashed the volley in to the top of the net.

Throughout the afternoon, Ethan Ross was the busier of the two goalkeepers, saving City from conceding further on a number of occasions. The goalkeeper was alert to tip a free header on to the cross bar to deny Heathcote, as well as denying the defender a strike from a free kick.

City tried but couldn't find a route through the Altrincham back four, failing to get a shot on target. The best chance coming as Ebby Nelson-Addy broke down the right. He cut inside and looked to find a City shirt but last ditch defending saw Altrincham clear for a corner.
