City earn a vital point at The Victoria Ground

In the beaming sunshine at The Victoria Ground this afternoon, City picked up, what could be, a vital point in the battle to stay in the Vanarama National League North.

Jordan Murphy gave City the lead on 5 minutes, pouncing on a mistake. The striker burst past the Curzon backline and slid the ball underneath the keepers legs, finishing cooly.

The lead only lasted five minutes though as Cummins pulled Curzon back level with a nicely placed header. After City conceded a foul on the left, Warburton swung in the freekick and found the unmarked Cummins, six yards out. He made no mistake with the header and finished well.

The best chance of the second half fell to Warburton in Curzon green. He was laid off, just minutes after the break by Cummins, but Nathan Vaughan got down well to stick out a leg and deny the striker.

Kuda Muskwe battled well all game and provided a fantastic opportunity for Jordan Murphy. The tall striker battled his way through down the Curzon left and drove a teasing ball across the Curzon six yard box. Unfortunately, Jordan Murphy was inches off connecting.

With Gainsborough falling to Stockport County, today's point sees City move three points clear of the drop zone with four games left to play.
