"the local team on form"

[Report By Craig Monks]

Ladies, Gents, Boys and Girls!

Another great display from our fantastic under 7s today! 17 boys came to Stourbridge today and without exception, every one of them played their heart out and were a total credit to themselves, their parents and our club. I was especially proud of our behaviour today during the 2 minutes silence--not one of the boys made a sound or even moved--well done everyone, whether the boys understood what we were doing or not they were massively respectful!

In brief, both teams played 2 matches each and we won all four matches in a most efficient and professional manner. The head coach of Stourbridge was deeply complimentary about our play and praised the boys and asked how we get them to be so strong. We have a real physical presence in our teams and show no fear of our competitors as we know how to play the game! I was fortunate to referee two matches and got to see both of our teams playing--I am so pleased that we can field two teams of such strength and still leave some very good players at home to take on another club.

In talking to Tim and Stuart, who were coaching the boys today, we still have a little bit of work to do but we are very much "the local team on form". Some work on tagging, off-side positioning and match discipline and we will move from Fantastic to Awesome (hoping that is a "cool" word with the kids)

Brilliant games today boys and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your Sunday--you deserved a good rest!

See you all next weekend

Best regards

PS-For your information, after I left Stourbridge I went to Kidderminster to watch our Under 10s play in the North Mids Festival--brilliant play and we made it to the finals, sadly we were runners up to an extremely good Lynn who were totally on form. Nevertheless we came 2nd out of 16, and something to be proud of!

PPS-Please don't let me be Billy no Mates or, thanks to Nick, Billy nearly no mates--if any of you can make it on the 11th December, much wine will be drunk on my table!!

PPS-Hang on Lynn is not in the Midlands so surely we actually won!!!!!
