Initially playing friendly games to get established.

Hello everyone

Following the sort of take of WRFC 1st and 2nd teams by Warriors, under the marketing banner of Valkyries, this has left a void at the club, especially for players, past and present, who do not aspire to become Valkyries, and of course, there is a need for progression from the under 18’s, as not all players will wish to go down the Valkyries route.

The Committee of Worcester Rugby Club, the amateur club of course, wish to re-introduce women’s rugby to the club.

We already have a thriving base with strong U13’s, 15’s and 18’s playing every Sunday.
The aim to set up a senior women’s team for players identified above and to introduce people to the game who wish to become involved. This could also be an opportunity to bring in players from the university who do not wish to become involved with Valkyries, in essence, back to good old days.

So, the plan is to re-form Worcester Ladies with training just one evening a week, initially playing friendly games to get established before moving into leagues.

I know that many people were not happy with the lack of family friendly facilities at the club in past years. This has all changed, we have a magnificent club house, with a panoramic view to the pitch which can provide warm and shelter when the weather is inclement. The drinks are reasonably priced, as is the food, because this is a Club, not a large business seeking to make profits.

If you are interested, or know someone who may be, please let me know so that I can report back to the committee. Please pass on this information to anyone who may be interested, especially players who became disillusioned and moved to other clubs.

The committee have a very positive attitude and want this to happen to develop a proper rugby club in Worcester once again.

A meeting will be arranged at the new club house, and if you haven’t seen it, it’s worth coming along just to view the facilities, which also include new changing rooms and showers. Our intentions will be given in more detail at the meeting and any questions of course will be answered.

We already have people, none from the past, who have committed to coaching and management positions and I have every confidence in their ability and will to make this work. A preliminary meeting to express intentions with the U18’s players and parents was very favourably received.

I will be very happy to hear from you/

So, as I said, please pass this message and my contact details to any friends, players etc that may be interested, even current Valkyries who maybe aren’t getting game time and want a more social aspect of rugby.

Great to be writing this.
