The Wanderers playing against the elements dug deep to contain a Dunlop side determined to erase the memories of last week ends defeat.
The Wanderers maintained their discipline and concentration to score two tries courtesy of the rampaging Jake Saddington
and Richard Ralph
, converted by Greg Fincher
to take a 14 points to nil lead into half time.
The Wanderers, aware that they had allowed Dunlop to dictate the tempo of the game, found another gear after half time and applied pressure to a tiring Dunlop defence. Dunlop failed to clear their line from the kick off and an infringement gave the Wanderers a wonderful opportunity. From the resultant line out, the Wanderers rolling maul was unstoppable and Saddington
gained his second try.
The remainder of the half saw the Wanderers batter the Dunlop defensive line. Tries came at regular intervals; Saddington
completed his Hat Trick, much to the delight off the Wanderers supporters!
Further tries came from Simon James
, Russ Marsland
and James Priddey
, who arguably scored the try of the day, finishing off a flowing movement started by Sam Carter
deep in the Wanderers 22 and finished by Priddey
who was rewarded for his excellent support play. The ball passed through several sets of hands with Ross Coombes
, Tim Ohlson
prominent in a flowing, passing movement to give the Wanderers a deserved win against Dunlop RFC by 45 points to nil.
