The game commenced at a terrific pace as both sides tried to play enterprising rugby. Walsall sought to run the ball at every occasion but, the Wanderers scramble defence held firm.
The Wanderers secured some quick ball and earned a penalty near the Walsall posts which Greg Fincher
duly dispatched but, from the restart the Wanderers failed to gather and Walsall took full advantage culminating in a well constructed try following a deft kick to the corner from the Walsall fly half swept up by his delighted right wing! Another Wanderers error handed Walsall a straight forward penalty to extend their lead.
The Wanderers now came back strongly and it was Walsall who were defending; the Wanderers were denied by an outstretched Walsall hand and again following the scrum Gareth Owens
had his effort ruled out. Jake Saddington
was not to be denied from the resultant five metre scrum crashing over to level the scores, Fincher
pushing the conversion just wide.
Back came Walsall to record a penalty after a period of sustained pressure to leave the half time score at 11 points to 8 to Walsall.
Playing with the conditions the Wanderers started the second half with real purpose and control.

cut a great line to receive a pop pass from Ally McLaughlin
and went in under the posts, Fincher
The Wanderers went straight up field from the kick off and put pressure on Walsall, a penalty for offside was duly converted by Fincher
, but back came Walsall who enjoyed a good spell resulting in a penalty to close the gap to just 4 points.
The Wanderers weathered a brief Walsall storm and made their way into the Walsall 22. Several phases of possession ensued, the Walsall defence was over stretched and McLaughlin
took a short pass from Fincher
and sprinted through to touch down under the posts, Fincher

put the kick into the corner and it was Brennan
who took advantage to barge over the Walsall try line for the bonus point try; Fincher
converted with a snap drop kick following the ball toppling from the kicking tee.
Walsall scored a consolation try following the kick off to leave the final score: Worcester Wanderers 32 points Walsall RFC 19.
