Hat Trick in Bonus Point Win v Camp Hill

The Wanderers entertained Camp Hill at Weston Fields and recorded a bonus point victory by 30 points to 14.

This was thanks largely to hat trick hero Chris Jenkinson who put together a man of the match performance.

The opening minutes were cut and thrust as both sides looked to dominate the breakdown, both line-outs functioned well with the Wanderers having an edge in the scrum.

The Wanderers began to edge the territorial battle and using the pick and drive to full effect made their way into the Camp half; James Price was orchestrating things from scrum half and a blind side break led to Jenkinson finding space and beating the cover defence to score out wide, Greg Fincher missing the conversion.

The Wanderers were in the ascendancy and despite an Ally McLaughlin kick being charged down, the Wanderers benefitted from a kind bounce into the arms of Jenkinson who sprinted in from 40 metres to touch down under the posts, Fincher converting. 12 nil to the Wanderers.

Camp, however, came back strongly and forced an error in the Wanderers 22; from the resultant scrum they moved the ball left and found the wing, who showing good strength and awareness left a trail of would be Wanderers tacklers in his wake as he scored a fine, individual try in the corner duly converted.

Both sides continued to give the ball plenty of air and another Camp indiscretion led to a yellow card and a penalty duly dispatched by Fincher.

The second half began with the Wanderers applying the pressure, another Fincher penalty and Jenkinson's third try opened up a healthy lead but, Camp were always a threat.

A Camp period of pressure led to Chris Collins being sin binned and a blood injury to the impressive Jake Saddington temporarily left the Wanderers with 13 players. Camp took full advantage to score a converted try to narrow the gap to just 9 points.

The Wanderers restored to 14 players now enjoyed a good spell of their own and forced Camp to defend their line; from a line-out, Greg Fincher found McLaughlin cutting a good inside line and he crashed over the Camp line for the decisive score, Fincher converting.
