Bonus Point Win at Barkers Butts
Wanderers travelled to Coventry on Saturday to play Barkers Butts RFC returning with a 5 point haul to keep their noses in front at the top of M1W.
On a grey, cold day the Wanderers started off at great pace and within 15 minutes they had notched up 15 points, virtue of 3 unconverted tries from Chris Griffiths, Tom Richmond and Jake Saddington, however, Barkers displayed great resolve and came back strongly, forcing the Wanderers into a number of errors.
Finally, Barkers spirited display was rewarded with a converted try to leave the half time score at 15 points to 7.
The second half began with the Wanderers trying to force the pace again but, Barkers taking advantage of any errors the Wanderers made; dropped passes in midfield were pounced on as Barkers sought early points.
The Wanderers remained composed in defence as Barkers pressed.
The Wanderers gradually wrestled back control, with the introduction of James Priddey, Dave Whiting and Ned Anderson from the bench injecting determination.
It was Priddey who made an immediate impact to score a fine individual unconverted try in the left hand corner.
The Wanderers now looked dangerous as they began to edge territory and possession; further tries from Anderson converted by Tom Biggs, Simon Daws, Sam Carter and Harling who converted two were interspersed by two further Barkers tries.
Barkers pressed at the end for a fourth bonus point try but, the Wanderers held out to leave the final score Worcester Wanders 46 Barker Butts 21.
