Bonus Point Win v Berkswell & Balsall
The rearranged league fixture with Berkswell & Balsall was played in dry but bitterly cold conditions at Weston's on Saturday.
The Wanderers recorded a fine bonus point win by 67 points to 7.
The opening 10 minutes set the tone as the Wanderers played some of their best rugby of the season, scoring 4 tries from Simon James, Ed Whitehead, Jake Saddington and James second with Tom Biggs converting one and three others hitting a post in the blustery conditions.
Back came the BB's who finally got their hands on the ball, following some unforced errors from the Wanderers.
However, a well executed training ground move led to Chris Griffiths barging over near the posts, Biggs converting.
The BB's attacked the restart and forced the Wanderers to defend; this was the BB's best period as they laid siege to the Wanderers try line; numerous scrums were stoutly defended but, finally the BB's had numbers out wide on the right and took full advantage to score a well deserved try.
The Wanderers came roaring back and following some strong running from Chris Jenkinson, Sam Carter scored wide on the left to leave the half time score at Wanderers 34 BB's 7.
The second half began with both sides trying to gain control, the Wanderers had an edge territorially but, despite several line breaks the BB's defensive line held firm.
Finally, the deadlock was broken when Griffiths took a reverse pass from Biggs and showing good pace and strength he dived over under the posts for an excellent individual try, Biggs converting.
The Wanderers dominated the final quarter scoring four tries from Jenkinson, Ned Anderson, the tireless Russ Marsland and the pick of the bunch from Whitehead who, seemingly surrounded by BB's players, burst through the attempted tackles to score under the posts, Biggs converted three.
