A great afternoon of rugby!
Cinderford V Worcester Ladies Under 15’s
7th October 2018
Anna, Lola, Aliya, Suzie, Evie, Emily, Lily, Heidi, Ellie, Evelyn, Rosie, Jess, Millie, Anna W, Bobby Jo, Melissa, Adia and Vicky.
After some slight confusion over the meet and kick off times a good number of under 15’s turned up in time for today’s game in the glorious sunshine in the Forest of Dean.
Worcester came out with all guns blazing and an exciting first half commenced with Evelyn scoring our first try within the first few minutes. Another 2 points followed from Melissa with her successful conversion. The exciting pace of the game continued with some fantastic tackles and some slick passing of the ball. Worcesters rucking and line outs were really coming together today and we were winning and keeping the ball time and time again. A first half that saw Anna Willis and Lily make some very strong tackles and Evelyn, Aliya and Millie make some fantastic long fast runs with great support and communication from the team which resulted in another 2 try’s for Worcester from Rosie and Evelyn.
Cinderford’s defence at times was very good which meant that Aliya and Rosie were stopped just short of the try line much to the groans of disappointment from the spectators but a quick pass of the ball and Anna was over the try line quickly followed by another try from Millie.
First half score
Cinderford 0 - Worcester 27
The second half commenced and Worcester started to let Cinderford pack into the game. Cinderford had come onto the pitch with the bit between their teeth and it wasn’t long before they scored their first try. Cinderford were making some great tackles and progressing well towards their try line but were still making mistakes and after a penalty to us we started to up our game and with some great passing, tackling and running Anna Willis scored Worcesters first try of this half followed by a conversion from Millie. The game restarted and saw Cinderford still putting the pressure on and scoring another try. Worcester then seemed to step up and start to play like the first half. The pace and the tackles became faster and harder but Cinderford were still putting the pressure on and their defence stopped us from scoring again and again. The pace of the game continued and Worcester were starting to show how their training and commitment to each other was contributing to the game as they were able to keep up the pace while Cinderford were starting to tire. They started to make more mistakes, give away penalties and miss tackles which saw Evelyn (2) and Millie (1) score again with Millie successfully converting.
Cinderford 10 - Worcester 55
Todays game saw a real improvement in tackling, rucking and the line out and also showed how the girls fitness levels are improving. The whole team contributed to the score by making some great passes and supporting each other. Their communication, handling skills and team spirit was excellent as was their discipline and sportsmanship. A pleasure to watch
An exciting afternoon of rugby and a well deserved win.
Onwards and upwards.
