Luctonians (U12) vs Worcester (U12) mixed team 1, game 1
Luctonians victorious against plucky Woowaas
Big away fixture, with the whole squad travelling away for the first time this season, against the Mighty Ducks. Sorry, the Mighty Lucs. No 1sts and 2nds this morning, all the players were thrown in the tumble dryer and out spat two mixed squads of equal merit.
All was well with the world as the Worcester faithful lined up against the Ducks, and the game kicked off. From the off however, there seemed to be a slight imbalance to the match, as the man in the middle got busy on the whistle for infringements made by the Woo, but missed those made by the Ducks.
That said, the first Ducks try was following a spell of sustained pressure, and well deserved. Their second, not so much, the result of huge illegal fly hack down the pitch. BA had a civilised word with the ref pointing out the potential error "Shut up fool, you ain't no fish", who acknowledged the mistake, then gave the try anyway.
Next up Worcesteronians ran through a few phases of their own, Tuba picked and went, and seconds before splashing over the whistle went. The team looked round bemused, the game stopped for a non injury on Dom, try denied.
Worcester continued to put themselves about, but again with a bit of territory the Ducks grabbed a third.
A lesson for the Worcester lads that sometimes life isn't fair, but the scoreline flattered the Quackers.
