Luctonians (U12) vs Worcester (U12) mixed team 2, game 2
The Ducks win again to make it a clean sweep
So to the last game of the morning, and with the Woo running zero for three it was down to the 10p mix-ups team 2 to salvage some pride.
From the off they went toe to toe with the Old Ducktonians, Ben throwing his weight around, Nice Guy Eddie hitting hard and low, and wee Henry Denso as usual surprising the Ducks with his vicious tackles, picking on the biggest Ducks he could find, and stamping on their eggs.
With ball in hand Hound was distributing nicely, and with the Street and Fozzy carrying straight and with quick support, things seemed to be ticking along nicely.
Herbs got the breakthrough with another run that was too much for the Ducks, but this was quickly countered with a couple for the home side against the flow, targeting holes in the Woo line.
Half time came and went, and Worcester continued to look the better side, rucking strong with Luther and Prickles piling in to force turnover, unfortunately James Breakstuff picking up a knock after a committed tackle.
Herbs bagged his second just after the break with the ball through the hands of Paddy and Bozza before finding a looping Ben on the end of the line, but darn and blast didn't the Ducks poach another back to make it 3-2.
And so to the dying seconds, a huge effort from the Worcester lads secured ball in good field position, and a maul going forward at pace, over the line, Super D on the back, and it's there, the equaliser! What a finish! What a team try! Big Al was ecstatic, Denso senior let out an excited if not somewhat feminine squeal, the parents hugged, and kissed....hold on...what...the ref...he's...HELD UP? HELD.....UP....!? Are you having a giraffe?
The whistle went for full time, and as if listening to the Justin Timberlake classic, Densley Snr. led the team in crying a river back to the clubhouse. An injustice for sure, but the score goes down in Angela's Big Book of Scores, as three to the Mighty Quackers, and only two to the Mighty Woo.
