Willmott Dixon Partnerships has announced a three-year extension to its sponsorship of Workington RFC.

The company, which is midway through its third year of a three-year sponsorship, will now continue as the main club sponsor until the end of the 2016/17 season.

The company works across the Workington area as it continues its contract with Home Group, one of the UK’s largest affordable housing providers, to deliver responsive repairs and voids maintenance along with planned works and gas inspections to nearly 17,000 properties in the Central and North West regions of the country.

Willmott Dixon’s North West team maintain 9,700 homes primarily across Cumbria and the Lake District.

Willmott Dixon’s operations director, Steve Gayter, explains the company’s motivations: “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Workington RFC. We seek to support the local communities in which we work and are proud to provide support to the team. We are committed to delivering projects and initiatives that provide a legacy locally for years to come. We wish the team the very best of luck for the forthcoming season.”

John Dryden, Chairman of Workington RFC, said: “We are delighted that Willmott Dixon has been able to support us for a further three years. There is great pride involved in representing the side and this sponsorship demonstrates faith in our team.

“With players as young as 12, we pride ourselves on our youth structure. The youth section is the future foundation of the club and this is where a lot of time, effort and money is required. Any sponsorship money raised allows young people, from all walks of life, to enjoy the thrills and friendship of rugby.

“Introducing young people to the values of rugby union provides a mind-set that stretches beyond participation in the sport.”

Mick Williamson, Managing Director of Willmott Dixon Partnerships said; “This is very much part of our Transforming Communities ethos , which is about making a real and positive difference to the lives of people living locally.

“We want to play an active part in delivering initiatives that leave a real legacy and we recently wrote an article, called Transforming Communities, to share ideas and help organisations deliver sustainable growth to help communities through these current austere times.

This sponsorship comes after the community actions of Willmott Dixon staff received a Royal seal of approval, with the company achieving a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. One of the areas highlighted by judges in making the award was the £1 million worth of community investment made by the company and staff each year to local good causes. The company has also received recognition after scooping gold in the ‘Excellence in Social Responsibility’ category of the prestigious Investors in People awards, whilst also recently receiving Business in the Community’s Community Mark with commendation for its societal benefit programme.

The Willmott Dixon Group is one of the UK’s largest privately-owned construction, regeneration and support services companies.

With 162 years of experience, the Group provides services within the built environment to the Government, registered social landlords, local authorities and private sector clients throughout the UK.

Willmott Dixon Partnerships works within the Group to deliver repair and maintenance services to over 170,000 homes.
