On the eve of the season start the Reds squad sees two new signings and one departure announced.

Reds skipper Jonny Wright has announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the month.

Jonny has announced his plans to live and work in the London area. He has made the following announcement.

"To Reds supporters,

I would like to let you all know from me personally that I will be playing my last game for Workington Reds on the 31st August 2013 against Stalybridge. I have taken up the opportunity to go and work and live in London. My reasons for leaving are not football related. I am leaving to further my work career and to live closer to my girlfriend.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Reds supporters for their support over the last six seasons (the good and the bad times) and apologise for the timing of this announcement (there is never a good time).

I now have five games to get as many points as possile for Reds and I will be giving 100% to get 15 points. I wish the players, fans and the club all the success in 2013/14 and hopefully we cross paths again in a cup competition.

Jonny Wright."

The squad has though been bolstered by the signing of ex-Burnley winger Ross Wilson and ex-Burnley and Barrow striker Joe Jackson.
