Reds U18's back to winning ways
Another tough game on paper and Reds knew that they would need to start well and start well they did.
Reds kicked off and went at Salterbeck straight away winning an early corner. Leo Holliday delivered a good corner and Luke Mitchell headed the ball home.
Within five minutes Reds were two-nil up, Cameron Harker with the cross this time and again Luke Mitchell controlled the ball and smashed it past the Salterbeck keeper.
Luke Mitchell got his hat-trick three minutes later from a Harry Bibby throw in. He again controlled the ball well and his strike flew into the left corner of the Salterbeck goal.
Reds were comfortable and playing some good football and just past the half an hour mark, Jamie Burns played a ball down the left for Macauley Sharp who hit a left-foot strike past the keeper to make it four-nil.
Reds kept up the pressure and on thirty-seven minutes Cameron Harker crossed a great ball from the right side that both Sharp and Bibby couldn't get on to but Leo Holliday, coming in at the back post, made it five-nil.
Salterbeck got a goal back on forty-one minutes when ex-Reds Reserves player Martin Rossi hit a great strike into the top corner of the Reds goal.
Into the second half and Reds were struggling to keep their earlier tempo up. Salterbeck were battling hard and got a second goal back when a cross came in from the right-hand side and Salterbeck's forward fired past David Ousby into the Reds goal.
The second half was scrappy and both teams had some good chance, David Ousby pulled off a couple of great saves before the game finished five-two.
