Worle Win Away 4-3 At Rivals Clevedon United

Clevedon United 3 v 4 Worle FC

Somerset County League

Worle FC served up a goal fest away to 4th place Clevedon united Fc getting all 3 points in a 4-3 win in dreadful conditions for the start of the season and Worle remain in 2nd place in the Somerset Premier league. Worle will always look to score goals and immediately took the game to Clevedon United bringing in Frazier rendall in the middle of the park and Marcus Walters back in on the bench after he was unavailable the previous week. Playing with a front three of Taylor, Adams and Hodrien the front three caused the home side problems all day long and the first attempt went to taylor but he dragged his effort wide. Clevedon grew into the game and it was a terrific save with his feet by Jack hodrien that kept the sides level but Clevedon took the lead from a set piece when the cross was headed in giving Hodrien no chance. Within 5 minutes Worle were level when Ryan Hodrien was put through and slid the ball past Dunn in the Clevedon goal.
Worle were now on top and the sides went in 1-1 at the half time break. The 2nd half was all Worle at the start and they should have increased their lead when Hodrien was put through again but he blazed his shot over. Hodrien was then put through again by Taylor but his shot was palmed over by Dunn. Hodrien then had a hattrick of chances but again his shot went over. Taylor got Worle into a deserved lead when he turned his marker in the area and shit shot came off the post and keeper but found the back of the net , it was no more than Worle deserved. Adams then put Worle 3-1 up when it was Adams who tapped home from a mellay in the penalty area. Worle looked out of sight and Callum Mcmanus was brought on and found acres of space to run into and he turned his marker abut his shot found the side netting . Clevedon then found a way back in the game when a shot looped over the defence and was adjudged to have crossed the line by the match official. Worle were still dominant and it was the Mcmanus outlet that brought further chances for Worle but with 4 minutes remaining Clevedon were given a free kick 40 yards out and his cross was met by the inrushing forward and in off the post. This then looked 2 points dropped but up stepped Ryan Hodrien as Worle were awarded a free kick 25 yards out and it looked as though it would have to be sent into the penalty area but Hodrien had other ideas when his thumping effort fired into the home goal top corner giving Dunn in the home goal no chance sending the away supporters wild.
This was an impressive performance from Worle who maintained their unbeaten run and was capped off by a tremendous goal from Hodrien and also a Man Of The Match display. This Saturday Worle are at home this time to Odd Down Reserves in a 3pm KO
