Cup run continues for the first team.....
The first XI made it into the Intermediate County Cup quarter final for the first time in many seasons with a 5v1 victory against Elm Grove Seniors at the Memorial Ground. The sides were locked 1v1 at FT before a four goal burst took the home side into the next round. There was a brace for the returning Larch plus goals for Wardle, Goodall and McCabe.
Phoenix Res held onto top spot with a hard fought 2v1 victory away at Milford & Witley. Kicking downhill and with the wind Worplesdon could not break the deadlock and went into the break at 0v0. Early second half goals from Veteran Thomas and Barton put Phoenix 2v0 only for the home side to pull one back from the spot. Some resolute defended protected the lead and the Reserves remain top (just).
Looking to bounce back from the disappointing result of last week the A's travelled to Sutherland Memorial Park to take on Burpham Res. With 5 players unavailable to work commitments Georges boys battled to a creditable draw.
The B's entertained Surrey Athletic Res at Mayford and never really got going. Some slack defending gifted Surrey the lead and this was soon followed up with a second as the B's failed to score for the only the third time this season.
