Official club statement for the current situation of the club.

The club wish to announce the new future plans taking place after recent speculation and rumours have surrounded the club.

Over the last two years the current home of the club has fallen into disrepair including the failure of the floodlights at the ground causing major disruption at the club for all teams.

The club, after much consideration, decided the prospect of first and foremost losing its first team was not only unacceptable but gave no consideration to the hard work put into putting the club into its current position over the last 93 years.

The club identified a potential new site and entered negotiations with the current controllers of the site to discuss a potential move. As a result of those negotiations the stadium known as ‘Grimethorpe Community Recreation Ground’ will be host to the first team and under 19s squads.

Together the charity and the football club have some big plans for the site which will not only boost the sporting profile of Grimethorpe, but will look to provide major community initiatives within education, training and community enhancement. Such plans include the opening of a community café on the site which will not only provide employment opportunities to local people, but will provide an accessible site for local groups and community organisations to use.

On the football side of things, plans will be submitted to improve the facilities vastly including plans for new buildings, changing rooms, floodlights, stands, community and education rooms as well as physio facilities. The club will be offering a FREE all year round soccer school to all local youngsters as well as holiday clubs and plan to extend its junior base significantly as well as working with current users of the site and help them expand.

The club is very excited about joining the two communities that have historically had so much in common and have had significant contributions to the town in previous generations, we hope that together with the full support of the community we can ensure a future for the club over the next 93 years.

We hope the people of Grimethorpe welcome our arrival, but also must thank the people of Worsbrough who have supported the club through thick and thin during its time at Park Road.
