Bridge draw away to Kiveton Park

A Jones double strike was not enough to take all three points as Worsbrough Reserves came away frustrated at Kiveton.

Despite holding the majority of possession, Brig found the day a frustrating one. They had started brightly and should have been 2-0 up within the first 10 minutes with only the wood work keeping them out including a 25 yard Foster free kick that flew off the bar. Further chances fell but were not taken.

It was Kiveton who capitalised on 14 minutes when an opportunistic shot was only parried by Davies who was helpless to the follow on for Park to open the scoring.

Worsbrough continued the pressure with chances for White and Price not falling well, however Bridge got their reward in the 43rd minute after a Joyce corner was rebounded back to him, Joyce then put one into the middle for WHITE to head home from six yards to make it 1-1.

Bridge came out firing in the second half and took the early chances, an inspired substitution at half time saw Jones brought in. Within minutes he was on the score sheet with an almost identical goal to the last one as Wyatt crossed in over the heads of three waiting players but onto the head of JONES who headed home.

Bridge did not have to wait long for the next goal as a dispatched cross fell 25 yards out for JONES to hit a volley into the bottom left hand corner to make it 3-1.

Bridge could have been accused of taking the foot from the pedal as Kiveton forced a quick return from a shot from close range two minutes later which was put away for 3-2.

10 minutes later and disaster struck as the otherwise solid Keen was adjudged to have pushed in the box for a penalty which was duly dispatched to set the game all square.

Bridge continued to dominate the majority of the rest of the game, but could not capitalise on several chances that fell their way, although they survived an injury time scare as a free kick planted right on the edge of the box was fired over by Kiveton.

Bridge found themselves disappointed at full time, whilst the opposition looked overwhelmed to pull a point.

Final Score: Kiveton Park 3 - 3 Worsbrough Bridge Reserves

Man of the match: Jack Jones.
