10 man Penistone come out on top in derby game

The game was always going to be a lively encounter with it being a local derby and also with Church being newly promoted.
As predicted the game flowed from end to end with Bridge playing the flowing football they have been used to and looking good for it too.
On 26 minutes that all changed. Rob Poulter brought down Brad Kerr in the area for a penalty and also a straight red card.
Kerr stepped up after the kick being delayed with a new keeper and other players arguing about the sending off, for the stand in to make an excellent save and lift the whole of the memorial ground.
Chances again went begging for bridge and had to settle for a 0-0 scoreline at halftime.

Bridge seemed to stay in the changing room after the break and on 47 minutes Mark Crossfield put Church 1-0 up after turning Craig Laight on the left and bursting into the box.
Wave after wave of chances were missed for Bridge by newmy signed Liam Bryan from Sheffield FC and Rob Adgie and the usually prolific Brad Kerr.
Craig Laight also had a couple of chances which went begging too.
Jared Oxley again pulled of a worldy save and kept the score at 1-0.
On 67 minutes Connor Warren came on for Adam Barker and the game changed with the fresh lively legs, Bridge seemed to throw more at Church but still frustratingly to no avail.
Ten minutes from the end Jimmy Middleton came on for Bryan but by then it was too late the damage was done and it was one of those days.

Final score 1-0

Wayne Thompson the assistant gaffer to Dave Mace wasn't happy with the result and said "I thought we played really well until they went down to ten men, then we fell into the 10 man syndrome where we took our foot off the gas and paid the ultimate price."

Andy Broadbent and Alex Colton stood out from the Bridge players but it was Josh Evans who played out of his skin and was awarded the Neil Adgie man of the match.
