England v Denmark U19’s

We applied for 320 Tickets for the England under 19’s versus Denmark at Brighton and Hove Albion FC on Thursday 10th November 2011. Unfortunately we did not get allocated any tickets. We are looking into block booking an England Senior Game at Wembley next year

Police Funding

Thanks to Ian Harte and Inspector Allan Lowe Worthing Dynamos were awarded £200 from the Police Property Act Fund. This money has been used to Purchase a new away kit

Under 12 Coach Julian Church

I am please to announce that Julian Church successfully passed his FA Level 2 Coaching Course. Julian started this course in July’11 and undertook his final assessment in October. He has also completed Module 1 of the FA Youth Module, and is planning to use both of these qualifications to attend Modules 2 and 3. This would then mean that Julian is “child centred” qualified, an equivalent to Level 3 (UEFA B License).

Worthing Youth games

Worthing Dynamos FC has a strong link with Worthing FC. As such we have been invited to watch there Youth games at Woodside Road, usually on a Monday Night.
Entry is £2:00 per Adult and free for the children, as long as they wear their Dynamos Jackets. I popped along and saw them beat Shoreham 1 nil in September and then watched them against Leatherhead.

Xmas Event

Worthing Dynamos has organised Christmas a Bowling Afternoon at 16:00 on Sunday 11th December 2011 at Worthing Bowling Alley for the Under 7’s, 8’s and 9’s. The Managers will be providing further details in the near future.

Smoking

Please note Smoking is prohibited at the Schools in the Worthing Area. Worthing Dynamos Management would also ask you not to smoke in front of the children during matches and at Training. Thank you for your co-operation.

Teams

Under 15’s – Andy Hyde

We are now in our 9th season in the Mid Sussex league with 6 boys from the original team still playing; Dave Barnett and myself have been involved for all those years!! – I have to say it’s been a delight all the way with great support & encouragement from all the parents on sidelines. We have always been lucky with the support and involvement from all of the parents every year, assisting with refereeing, linesman, pegging goal nets, putting out the corner flags you really do need this support to be able to focus on the boys needs before a game. A manager simple can’t do it all on his own, I’m lucky.
Some people think success is measured by winning trophies, but I like to think all of the players that have played for us have moved onto other clubs or stopped playing, as a better player. Our belief from day one has also been the long-term development of any boy that joins us. We have some minor success in 9 years, winning a six aside, runners up in the league six aside and numerous 3rd positions!!
This season we have 15 boys signed on. Our top scorer for the last 5 years is out injured with a double fracture of the wrist - get well soon Kristian, we miss you. Played 5, won 2 lost 3, twice played with 11 players, we could have won 4 out of 5 competing in all games so far, which is the encouragement for me.
Last year we finished 3rd in the B league, this season the league has put both leagues together so the aim this year is to be competitive in the A league and continue to hold our heads high, play the way the game should be played, look for mid table and most important above all others - ENJOY.
Lastly, I want to thank David Barnett for his coaching, Richard Punter & Simon Humphrey for their linesman duties, Paul Cotton for his support at training and match days and once again to the parents for choosing Worthing Dynamos for the boys to play their football happily.

Dave Barnett is a highly qualified coach and holds the following badges:
Level 1, Level 2, UEFA B, 1st 4 sport awards and level 1 and 2 of the Youth awards plus first Aid and Child protection.
Myself, holds a level 1 coaching, First aid, Child protection.

Under 14’s – Manager – Calvin Buckland

I know I don’t seem old enough but I actually went to Worthing Dynamos (then Durrington Dynamos) first ever get together back in 1977. I never played for them but did get involved in 2000 when my youngest son, Sonny, joined the U9’s in 2002 the then manager left and I was asked to take over. I successfully passed FA Level 1 Coaching Course and took over the team at U11’s. This was the beginning of what has been a very rewarding, although sometimes stressful, 10 years managing teams.
The current U14 squad got together as U7’s and there are currently 7 boys left from that first year. The squad were very lucky to have Helen Glazebrook and Chris Punter in charge for the first 4 seasons and there determination to make sure that all the boys got plenty of football really helped them when they went to 11 aside. They were taught the basics of controlling and passing the ball first, and the results were secondary, this has stood them in good stead and 2 of that original squad are now signed to Brighton with 3 others currently being watched by them.
Our first year at 11 aside was back in the Arun and Chichester league and they decided to put us in the bottom league. We won every game that season scoring 154 goals and conceding only 4. Every player not only scored but also went in goal at some point. We also reached the Challenge Cup Final losing on penalties. The following year we went straight into the top division so things were obviously tougher. We strengthen the squad and did well finishing 3rd and reached the cup semi final. We lost a couple of players and gained a couple at U13 ending 4th in what was a very up and down season. This season I have been lucky in getting Jason Hanks onboard to help both with training and on match days. We have had a difficult start to the season, not having a keeper. The boys that have helped by going in goal have done well but a regular goalie is a priority.
We have a squad of 14 at the moment but will hopefully add a couple more before too long. Our aim for the next 2 seasons is to keep improving and have a squad ready to move together as a squad to Worthing Youth.

Current squad and year joined Dynamos as follows.
Joel Davison U7
Archie Jones U9
Ben Glazebrook U7
Joe Patching U12
Ryan Mackley U7
Danny Baeza-Wigzell U12
Callum Morin U7
George Hartley U12
Jack Poole U7
Max Birch U13
Charlie Smyth U7
Joel Downs U13
Charlie Thurgood U7

Leanne Munns – Club Welfare Officer

My first involvement with Worthing Dynamos was when my eldest son started playing with the Under 7’s. He is now in his 5th season with the under 11’s and my youngest son has just started training with the under 7’s. My husband also played with the club many years ago!

My role as Club Welfare Officer:

Sussex County FA works in accordance with the FA’s strategy to keep children safe throughout all affiliated football, and although safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility, since the start of the 2008/2009 season, all clubs with youth sections are required by the FA to have an appointed Club Welfare Officer.

The Club Welfare Officer is in place to promote best practice within the club in safeguarding children and to be the first point of contact for any concerns relating to children.

It is a club policy that all Managers and Coaches are CRB (Criminal Records Bureau via the Police) checked, and has attended the relevant Safeguarding Children, Coaching and First Aid courses. My role Includes arranging for the CRB checks to be carried out, and to keep records of course certificates, some of which require re-certification or re-assessing after 3 years.

Do not hesitate to contact me therefore if you have any concerns regarding our children, require a CRB check or would like any assistance in locating and booking courses.

Carol Darney – Registration Secretary and Meeting Minutes Secretary

This is my ‘second time round’ on the Committee of Worthing Dynamos.

I was the Meeting Minutes Secretary and Fund Raising and Event Organiser for a number of years, while my son played from Under 9s to Under 14s.

I ‘volunteered’ to take the minutes again 3 years ago and took over as Registration Secretary in 2010.

As Registration Secretary, I am responsible for registering the players with the Club and the various Leagues. This usually takes up August, with mountains of paperwork and lots of cutting and sticking dubious/sweet photographs!

I recently achieved my Level 1 coaching certificate and am really enjoying helping with the coaching of our lovely Under 8s squad.

Myself and my colleagues within the Club are striving to provide our young players, from Under 7s thro to Under 16s, with a safe and enjoyable environment to develop their love of football.

Volunteers / Ideas

Running Worthing Dynamos Football Club is no small feat, and we are only as good and as strong as out Volunteers.

As detailed at the bottom of this newsletter we have a number of events planned for the 2011/2012 Season, it would be very much appreciated if any of you Parents would be prepared to help in organising and or assisting on the Day / Night.
