January 2011 Chairman's Blog
Firstly, welcome to the new club website! The old one was getting a little tired and it was designed in order to provide information to people outside the club. I hope this new site will continue to do that but will also become a "must use" resource for club members. This means that we must have content that is useful, varied, interesting and up to date. One of the advantages of this site is that it allows multiple people to update it instead of being restricted to just one person (I.e me!). I will be writing this blog on a monthly basis and I hope that this will assist members in keeping up to date with what is going on around the club.

So what is going on at the moment! Well in football terms, not a lot. It's that time of year again when it seems like forever since we've found a playable pitch. However the U13 Girls have been making good use of the all-weather surface at the Glynn Owen Centre by beating Littlehampton 3-1 in their cup semi-final. The final itself is on March 6th at the Holbrook Club in Horsham and It would be really nice for them if they managed to get some support from other sections of the club on the day. More details on this site as we get them. Well done girls!

The clubhouse project is fairly racing along at the moment. We have put together four club project groups to look at the various aspects - thank-you to all who volunteered. The council will choose a contractor by mid-February and building work should commence in March. In the meantime we are working with the council on finalising the lease.

We are now getting to the busiest time of the season. Andy Moore has just sent out invitations for our tournament which this year will be at Worthing Rugby Club over the late- May Bank holiday weekend. As we get nearer the time, we will be looking for volunteers to help out as usual.

The club has also just purchased a large mobile floodlight with the aid of a £5000 grant from Sport England. We hope to be able to move those teams currently struggling under poor lighting conditions at GOC to something a little better for the rest of the winter.

The club is also currently renewing it's Charter Standard Community status via the new annual health-check process. Please can I remind all volunteers to cooperate with Elvira as she puts this major piece of work together.

That's all from me for the moment. Enjoy the new site!
