Wotton first past the post in local derby

All things considered Wotton deserved the win for playing the better rugby

With an injury in the first contact this seemed to set the afternoon’s scenario with numerous players leaving the field during the afternoon as the two sides fought hard for possession of the ball. It took thirty minutes for Wotton to score an unconverted try by Chris Stokes and Sodbury reacted by coming back to score on half time with a converted try, seven five the score. At the start of the second half Wotton appeared to be rushing their game but once they began to control things and got their hands on the ball they became a more confident team and ran at the opposition, this as always bore fruit with first John Holcombe scoring a try converted by Rob Marlow then Joe Horton adding and unconverted try. It must be said that at times the game deteriorated as a few players had some punch left over from Christmas but all good cheer was restored at the end of the game. Wotton came away winners 17 points to 7.
