Presentation and Signing On success

There was a great turnout at the Under 10s Presentation and Signing on Event, which was held at the Wooburn Men’s Working Club on Saturday 26th July.

However, the large showing of 20 players, plus parents, guardians and friends came as no surprise to Team Manager, Errol. ‘ The lads have shown excellent commitment all season in attending training and matches and the support I’ve received from parents has made my job very easy!’ quipped Errol.

The event commenced at 2pm and players were encouraged to sign on in readiness for the 2014/15 season. This proved a huge success with the 20 players all putting pen to paper and almost £1500 collected in subs, which will help the club meet a number of early season commitments.

The signing on session was followed by Errol providing a summary of the season. The Under 10s started well in winning their Yellow Group league before narrowly being beaten by ‘arch rivals’ Aylesbury United in the half season finale. Promotion to the Blue League was not without challenges as the team struggled with both the bad weather and opposition but all in all Errol was pleased with the progress of the squad.

Next season the boys move to 9 a side football as part of the FA’s guidance around development at this age. Errol has enlisted Martin, father of left back starlet Charlie, to join him as Co- Manager and the boys will split into two sides, with Errol running the FC team and Martin, the Colts. Errol was keen to comment that having two teams will mean that boys will be comfortable playing at their own level and this will only serve to progress their development and understanding of the game.

The event ended with all boys being presented with a thank you trophy from the club for representing WSFC in the manner befitting a charter standard club!

During the day, Errol and Martin unveiled new signings Ethan, Daniel and Ben T for the Under 11 campaign. A further recruit Ben A is also set to join and with the remaining players from last season who could not make the event, indicating that they will be back for pre-season training, things are looking rosy for the Under 11 FC and Colts – bring it on!
