Close passing resulted in acres of space for winger Elliot Harvey to run, but a covering tackle was made by one of the three Yarnbury players on the WPL side, Matthew Robinson
Not to be denied, Harvey again used his pace, this time to pounce on loose ball in the WPL try area to open the scoring.
Joe Pinnick, playing centre, was next over the line after 15 minutes with a strong Thrussellesk run with Daniel Pound converting.
Despite not having their strongest team on the park, Yarnbury's forwards worked hard for each other and the forward domination resulted in a try for skipper Alex Woodhouse.
Yarnbury's Tom Baxter returning from injury and illness joined the WPL side and the presence of Luke Exley, also returning from injury, alongside Baxter, brought WPL back into the game, with Exley scoring.
Half-time changes saw Baxter with his own team making typical breaks through the opposition which, with more communication from supporting players, would have resulted in further scores.
Andy Thrussell started the second half with some fearsome tackling, putting the home side under constant fear.
Baxter was on the score board just five minutes into the half.
WPL took advantage of the minimal time in the Yarnbury half with the flyhalf popping over a drop kick from 20m out.
Felix Jones finished off the scoring with a powerful drive over the line.
Simon Edscer was awarded Yarnbury player of the match.
