100% Record remains intact!

After a stunning start to the season by both Yarnbury A and Yarnbury B it is with great pride that I report that the winning run has commenced.

After a very one sided affair at the Moortown Festival last week where Yarnbury A were just too strong for Aireborough, it was a well organised Aireborough side that arrived looking to exact revenge. Did they achieve their goals? Well in a word, no. It was a shaky start by our strongest A team but after a few tense moments, normal service was resumed with the all too familiar mazy, dazzling, defence splitting, [insert own superlatives] runs of messrs Lee and Lewty, to name but two, to strike up a commanding lead. At this point it is worth a special mention for Alexs' Beldon and Scott making their A team debut. Excellent surging runs from both players that belied their relative inexperience at the "elite" A team level. A condundrum for coaches Fletcher and Hill at the next selection committee meeting no doubt, scheduled for 5 minutes before kick off at the next game, away at West Park Leeds.

Speaking of coaches, the normally resolute, stoic and ultimately professional demeanour of the head coach Steve Fletcher was worringly missing at the beginning of the match, but a number of coffee injections at the charity of the boys parents' soon got him over his man flu (self inflicted? how very dare you!)although heavily reliant on his cohort Martin Hill, special thanks to Martin once again was the word on the touchline.

Time for Yarnbury B to step up at half time where the good work of the A team was in no way put in jeopardy, strong tackling from the resolute, ultimate man of the match, Joseph Horan amongst others kept the Aireborough attack at bay.

A great all round team effort by all players meant Yarnbury retired to the bar after an 8-4 win. Much joviality was seen and heard in the bar afterwards (Mike Tindall would've been red faced) where sausages, cola and tangy Haribos were the celebratory food and drink of choice.

Next up/ the auld enemy West Park Leeds, away.
