Yateley were up for the game and wanted to win from the get
go. Basingstoke came at us from the beginning and after about ten minutes of pressure they scored.

Yateley’s heads did not go down it made us more determined. We had some great link up plays and the forwards created spaces which gave Yateley some great chances. With some super sleek stick skills Mel weaved her way through the Basingstoke defence and took a strike from the top of the D, it went past the keeper and into the bottom corner of the goal.

At 1 all Yateley were looking to push forward and gain extra momentum to push on for a victory. Yateley’s 2nd goal came from a great rebound off the keeper to Lauren. A lovely flick over the keeper and Yateley were in the lead.

The 2nd half Yateley knew Basingstoke were going to come at them hard. One of Yateley’s young players Georgie had a great game attacking at pace up the wing and creating some great passes for
the forwards to attack. Georgie also was great getting back and defending. Yateley’s solid defence consisting of Sophie Hannah and Dobbers had Basingstoke forwards under control.

Basingstoke had a lot of the play in the 2nd half. There were some great saves from keeper Gill and strong tackles from the defence. Yateley managed to keep Basingstoke at bay and the final whistle came and Yateley won 2-1.

We all went back to the club house and had great teas made by Dobbers with a little help from her mum. Congratulations go to Georgie and Lauren who got joint man of the match.
