Yeeeeeehaaaah! Points in the board for the glorious, victorious 3s!!

Winchester 3 YATELEY 4 (yes...FOUR !!)

Our Ladies 3s travelled to a wet and windy Winchester, still searching for their first point this season. With Captain Nicki Smith missing, they were hoping they could return with good news, and a point.

After a strong start, they held them at 0-0 for the first 15 minutes. They defended hard, but after a lapse in concentration from Winchester, Becks James snuck one round their defensive line and their GK, taking Yateley to 1-0. After a lot of excitement at scoring a goal and being ahead, they doubled their lead shortly after. Just before half time Winchester had a lucky break and scored, but the teams hopes were high as they realised they were half way to winning a point!

Sadly the start of the second half didn’t entirely go to plan. GK Jammy pulled out a lot of great saves, but some relentless shots from Winchester’s forwards, Yateley saw themselves go 3-2 down, with about 20 minutes to go.

The 3s fought back, and with great work from our midfields, and support from our sideline Mum, Krissy, it was looking good. Winchester were getting chances, but our defence kept them at bay with their solid tackles. The forward line took their chances, and with a cracking ball down the middle and strike from top of the D, evened it out to 3-3. With 5 minutes to go, and a point within reaching distance, everyone defended hard and kept possession out of our D. A brilliant ball down the line from Coach Laura Craston, and lightning pace from Becks took it past their midfield and defence, and stuck it bottom corner to take them ahead to 4-3.

Fortunately defending is something Yateley 3s have got pretty good at this season, and with all our players defending in their half, 2 minutes were called. The whole team gave it 110% and kept the ball out our D as full time was called. The whole team worked their hardest, and most definitely deserved the win. With 3 games to go, and a weekend to the IOW, they look to build on their points tally!

Goals came from Becks x 4, and assists from Flippa Messenger, Ellie Dibiase, Laura Craston, Hattie Miles
