REPORT: Bristol Manor Farm 2-4 Yate Town

1 week ago By Sebastian Parker

Yesterday’s win moves Yate 4 points clear at the top of the table.

Yate Town made it 10 unbeaten in the league and made a 4 point cushion at the top of the table with an emphatic 4-2 victory at Manor Farm.

Goals from Ben Brooks (2), Olly Mehew and Adam Price sealed the three points.

The match started with both teams struggling to assert themselves on the game.

The home side took the lead in the match, with Jamie Bird finishing well after a smart turn on the edge of the area.

That early goal in the 4th minute left Yate in a bit of a predicament, however they were able to respond through a Ben Brooks header just five minutes later.

first half was then without incident, but as half time approached Yate were able to net again.

That man Brooks received a through ball from Adam Price and he finished well past the Farm keeper for 2-1 in the 43rd minute.

Yate's Olly Mehew had been heavily involved i the first half and got a goal of his own in the 53rd minute to make it 3-1 to the visitors.

After great work by Joe Guest and Sam Kamara on the left, the ball found its way to the number nine on the edge of the box.

He took one touch and then curled the ball away from the stranded Ben John in the Farm goal in to the top corner.

A really strange goal then followed, with Manor Farm reducing the deficit to 3-2.

A corner was taken and then Martin Stowell poked it through a crowded penalty area. Forest Green Rovers loanee Lewis Thomas in the Yate goal conceded as the ball rolled into the net.

The home side pressed forward in search of an equaliser but it was Yate who had the final word.

The bluebells won a free-kick and Price stood over it in the absence of Nick Peare.

The midfielder delivered though, stepping up to bend the ball in to the top corner for 2-4 in the 85th minute.

Yate moved four points clear at the top ahead of their next game against Barnstaple Town at home on Saturday at 15.00pm.
