Yate Town vs Salisbury FC - Match Preview

2 months ago By Lawrence Wortman

We welcome the "Whites" this weekend

This weekend we welcome third placed Salisbury to the Universal Components Stadium.

Salisbury are currently in a rich vein of form having scored 16 goals in their last two league games and are now sitting in third place. They are of course managed by ex pro/radio 5 pundit Steve Claridge who will be looking for revenge after last season's 3.1 defeat here at Yate.

This is our toughest game of the season so far against one of the top teams and favourites for promotion, and is the start of three challenging league games the others being away to Taunton Town and Didcot Town. Manager Polly Britton is aware of this stating " Although we have tough games ahead of us this week which we know will be difficult, we will embrace the opportunity to play the two favourites back to back and these are the games that our players should look forward to playing"

Whilst still looking for our first win of the new season our performance against Barnstaple Town deserved more than a draw and Polly was pleased with the way the team fought back in the second half after going 2.1 down. He's aware that we had enough chances to win the game and need to be more ruthless in front of goal.

Yate go into the game with no major injuries and are looking to add to the squad ahead of this weekend's fixture with two more Bristol Rovers Under 23 players set to join Lewis Leigh -Gilchrist who is in line for his full debut.

Kick off is 3pm at the Universal Components Stadium and the gates will be open from 12.30pm. Admission prices are: -
