Cadbury Heath 1-0 Yate Town
Yate crash out of FA Cup
Yate are dumped out of the FA Cup at the Preliminary stage for the third successive season, with a very disappointing defeat at the hands of Western League side Cadbury Heath.
In a game in which Yate dominated, Cadbury Heath played to their strengths and in the second half, in which they had the downhill of the pitch, they headed in from a corner.
Yate started brightly in the first half, and looked the better side for all of it in fact. Mitch Tippins testing the keeper from long range early on, but it was straight at him and a simple save.
The hosts had a chance with 18 minutes on the clock, Ex Yate player Sasha Tong unmarked in the area headed inches wide.
HT: Cadbury Heath 0-0 Yate Town
With the down-hill slope of the pitch the hosts took full advantage of this in the second half, as Yate were unable to take advantage of this in the first half.
Within minutes of the restart Yate found themselves behind. We were undone by a corner kick much like Tuesday night against Bideford. Ex Yate Town player Sasha Tong heading home for Cadbury.
Yate tried to get going in search of an equaliser but struggled to create any clear cut chance, with resolute defending from the hosts. Kyle Thomas, Brad Norris and Ben Brooks all trying from long range to no avail.
The away side lifted their play and the hosts resorted to niggly fouls to stem the pressure and disrupt the approach work, but again the real quality final ball was lacking, and Yate didn’t get that bit of luck they needed to register a score.
