A second half comeback from Yate secured safe passage into the next round of the FA Trophy, where the BLUEBELLS will meet unbeaten Moneyfields at Lodge Road on 28th October.
A bright start from the visitors, in which they dominated large parts of the first half saw them take the lead. Tricky wide player Gilberto Abril finding the bottom corner after cutting in from the right flank.
But, Yate stormed back in the second half and deserved the win. The pair of Bristol Rovers youngsters on loan Ebutt and Leigh-Gilchrist combined before he teed up Ben Brooks for a good finish into the roof of the net to equalise.
And in the driving rain on the 79 minute the winner came. Leigh-Gilchrist picking the ball up on the edge of the area before toe poking the ball past the helpless keeper and into the bottom corner.
It could of been three, when substitute Difford was played through 1 on 1 with the keeper but a superb save from the Fleet keeper who had made some great saves previously prevented the score being larger.
Moneyfields with provide Yate with a stern test in the next round. Currently unbeaten in their opening 9 fixtures, the Portsmouth based side are a big physical team.
Yate Town are home in the league this Saturday against Shortwood United, 3pm K/O at Lodge Road.
