Henderson spot-on to secure the points
A late Luke Henderson penalty clinches victory for Yate
The visitors started brightly in the opening minutes. Yate soaked up the pressure before Oscar Bright broke from deep in his own half to deliver a cross into the danger area. The ball wasn't dealt with and Tom Harrison clipped the loose ball in for 1-0, before himself setting up Luke Henderson to sweep in a first-time square ball that just eluded Joe Shutt.
Wells pressed hard and closed down well to fashion attacks of their own. A ball squared from the left led to an effort being pulled wide, and the away side were getting in shots without really troubling Mason Hawkins in goal. Shutt was busy up front, and Sam Knight performed excellently, causing problems for the away defence down the flanks, and generally being involved in a lot of the play.
Wells continued with their good approach football, searching for the leveller. Shutt burst down the right to feed Harrison who drove just wide, before the visitors went close with a header off the post that was then scrambled clear. Shutt and Henderson both warmed the keeper's hands with snapshots, before a deep free-kick from Wells caused a problem in the hosts defence. A header was won but the away striker snatched at the chance and scooped it over.
Late on, Knight again won a ball out wide to nip into the box and draw a foul, which was reward for his all round display. Henderson stepped up to clinically tuck away his second penalty in two games and seal the victory for the home side.
