Season 1997/98 was a big one for the club and we are marking it with a reproduction of the kit worn that season.

Ex-Cuckoos players have been taking to social media recently to discuss the clubs first ever season at UCL Premier Division level.

It came in 1997/98 but before the league season commenced we travelled to nearby Stamford Town FC for the Benevolent Cup.

This match was between the winners of Division one of the UCL (us) and the Premier Division winners (them). So a tough night was expected against a strong home side.

The Cuckoos had marked their arrival in the top division by unveiling a striking new look. Gone was the yellow and black home kit of the previous seasons. In had come bright orange with a vertical black stripe.

The end we were attacking at Wothorpe Road was littered with Cuckoos fans who had taken the opportunity to invest in an orange shirt for the night.

Amazingly the underdogs ran out easy 6-2 winners helped by incredible performances by club legends Gary Clipston, Stuart Mason, Nicky Conroy and James McCallum.

We went on to finish comfortably in the top division that season and with us now challenging at the top end of the league, Yaxleyfc.com felt it was a good time to reflect that period and bring out the retro kit.

You can order yours from here, or if there is enough interest to do a bulk order I will get collating it to meet the Christmas ordering deadline.
