In perfect conditions York ran out winners against the Midlands champions to progress to the final against Worthing on Sunday 1st May at Sale Sharks ground KO 4.15pm.
After what backs coach Nick Elliot described as "the worst warm up I have ever seen" the lads turned it on when it mattered and executed a perfect game plan. York had the upper hand in the forwards but early on the opposition appeared to have the edge in the backs with plenty of pace and several illusive runners. An edge that was nullified by a great defensive display and game management by the team as a whole.
Special mention should go to the pack who repeatedly turned over the ball at crucial moments in the game and out scrummaged Olney from the first whistle. The ball carrying into contact was both powerful and relentless, constantly getting beyond the tackle line to ensure any scraps the opposition got meant they were playing off the back foot for much of the game.
The forward platform enabled the backs to run in two tries with a couple more very good chances narrowly missed.
Bring on the final!
