Another great win for Glen’s

By Allan Glen's

Allan Glen's 84 - 17 Dalziel

Although this game was not as onesided as the score suggests it was Russell McKeown who scored for Glen's when he collected the kick off and weaved his way through the visiting defense to open the scoring. Ten minutes later Glen's Alister McConnell hacked ahead a loose ball, picked up and touched down between the posts. It was Grant Henderson's turn next when he picked up a loose ball on his own 22 and beat the opposition to the touch down. A break by Fraser Moore sent Sam Morrison in for the bonus points. Scott Thomson was in fine kicking form and converted all four tries.
All through the game so far Dalziel had been holding their own in scrum and lineout but were being let down by final pass jitters, however they were rewarded with a try when Alan Bowles barged over from short range. It was Glen's that finished the first half scoring when Russell completed a good back move to make a half time score of 42 - 5.
The second half followed much the same lines as the first with Glen's running in another six tries. First Jono Murrell scored from a driving maul then Henderson completed a move in which all the backs were involved.
At this point when Dalziel were pressing they were awarded a penalty try for a late tackle. But Glen's took the initiative and McKeown scored again finishing a interpassing move by the backs. A five meter scrum on the visitors line culminated in Murrell forcing his way over.
Next Glen's Sean Lennon broke from the halfway line and out paced the Dalziel defence to touch down.
Again Dalziel made some headway and Andrew Scott forced his way over in the corner. Andrew Glover converted.
Glen's had the last say when Lennon took a quick penalty on his own 22 and catching the visitors napping ran in to score the final try.
