The Duke and Duchess of Northumberland welcomed Alnwick Town AFC’s Juniors into their home at Alnwick Castle last week.

The Duke and Duchess are president and vice-president of the club and juniors (girls).

A few junior boys and girls attended the event to represent the 220 plus members in the club.

Also present were junior officials for both boys and girls together with the chairman of the club, Tom McKie and secretary, Cyril Cox.

The new chairman of the juniors, Peter Hately, attended to be introduced to the Duke and Duchess.

Amongst the photos were the girls and boys sitting with Their Graces on the grand staircase.

The Duchess was presented with a framed girls’ Alnwick Junior shirt as the Duchess is their vice-president, and had given permission for her emblem to be put on the team’s strip.

A number of other photos were taken of various groups with Their Graces.

The Duke and Duchess support the efforts of the club and juniors in their remarkable expansion over the last few years.
