Great game of rugby on show, Burnage with the final edge

AK were on catch up after letting 10-7 lead slip

Burnage away approached as a good fixture as both teams sit not too far away from each other in the league placings.
The home team taking an early 7 point lead after 8 minutes with a try and conversion, AK pushed Burnage back and made good ground, monopolising in the 24th minute with a try from John Coulson, neatly converted by Matt Tully scores level 7-7.
AK making Burnage work hard for any extra yards and were finally awarded with a pen on 32 minutes, secured again by Tully, AK deservedly in the lead 10-7.
Fortunes dipped after a couple of slip ups from AK, penalty try awarded to Burnage, followed immediately by a try from Ralph Lawson, scores at half time 19-10 to Burnage.
AK were caught out within the first 7 minutes after the restart, with a well worked try from Burnage's Lawson, AK responded quickly with a penalty awarded 5 minutes later, kicked accurately again from Tully.
The pressure now all seemed to come from Burnage as they started to take the game away from AK, a further try & conversion scored on 60 minutes saw the home side now sitting comfortably at 33-13, Ralph Lawson on a hat-trick, piled on the pain for AK scoring between the posts, converted by Rhys Evans taking the score to 40-13.
AK rallied hard and made the final minutes of the game the best of the match, pushing Burnage back and piling on the pressure, this AK side is a squad beleaguered by injury but they were not about to give up that easily, AK's pride now at stake, JP Singleton provided an individual brilliant try and Tully kicked again for the conversion, score now 40-20.
Burnage caught up a bit in AK's lights, were giving ground away rapidly, to then allow Doug Whyley weave skillfully through the Burnage defence and drop over for the try, duly converted to take the final score to 40-27.
Many AK players limped off from the artificial surface, both sides definitely knew they'd been in a battle royale that's for sure, great to see the camaraderie from both our clubs after a hard fought game.
Next Sat 11th November AK1XV face Blackburn at Stelfox Ave 2:15pm kick off.
