Robins’ Looking to Fly Higher

Ashton United FC (The Robins) are on the lookout for new Directors/Owners to help the club consolidate its status as a Vanarama National League North club. One of the smaller ‘fish’ in a big ‘pond’, this term competing with the likes of Stockport County, Chester, Hereford and York City, Ashton United has earned its place in the league due to the business efficiency of the current board of Directors (the club is debt free), and the quite remarkable achievements of current Manager Jody Banim, his management team and players.
Chairman Terry Hollis said, ‘We have achieved so much in recent years culminating in promotion last year. It has long been an ambition of the club to compete at the level we are now at and we want to retain our place in the league, maybe in time to be able to push on even higher. These ambitions will not be realised without new investment into the club. The current board members are not get-ting any younger and the skill sets and resources needed to compete effectively in the Vanarama National League North are simply not available to us in the quantity and quality we need. It is so very frustrating to see our management team secure the services of very good players only for them to be ‘cherry picked’ by clubs offering those players wages we cannot afford. If we had retained the services of those players, I have no doubt we would be knocking on the door of the play offs rather than facing the challenges of a relegation battle. The issue is the gamble of contracting players, a tough decision on a tight budget, one that would likely put the club at risk under the current budget restrictions, and one we are not prepared to take.’
Ashton United is looking for one/two, or a consortium of ‘dragons’ with business acumen, contacts and resources to support the club strategically whilst the current board members are either happy to continue to carry out the day to day running of the club or stand down from their roles. We are committed to developing young talent in our region, whilst also offering volunteers the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge. Very much a family orientated club, ‘The Robins’ are proud of the partnership that exists between the club and Ashton United in the Community, a registered charity that supports community engagement, and provides for volunteering opportunities for local people through roles within the football club. We are proud that many of our volunteers, having learned new skills and gained experience with the club, have moved from a voluntary role into full time employment elsewhere in the professional game.
