Ashton United are back at home this Tuesday evening as they take on Stockport County in an all-Manchester affair in the Vanarama National League North.

LAST TIME OUT

After losing 2-0 to Blyth Spartans last time out Ashton will be keen to bounce back to winning ways. Against Blyth, Ashton fell to two second-half goals from Reid in the 53 minute and an 87-minute strike from Dale. Ashton were also reduced to ten men when Sheridan was sent off in the 93 minutes.

On the other hand, Stockport won 3-1 away from home at Spennymoor. Goals from Warburton, Walker and Bell meant that Stockport claimed all three points.

RECENT FORM

Ashton comes into the game in horrific form with no win in three league games. Ashton have also failed to score in their last three games as well. The Robins will be hoping to end the run and gain a vital three points.

Stockport, on the other hand, come into the game in a mixed run of form with the Hatters on a two-match unbeaten run after a 3-1 victory away at Spennymoor and a 1-1 draw at home to Chester.

STOCKPORT COUNTY’S SEASON SO FAR

From Stockport’s opening 19 games the Hatters are sat in 11th place on 28 points and are 3
Points outside the playoff places with a game in hand on AFC Telford who are sat in 7th place. However Stockport’s biggest achievement this season has been there FA Cup run with the Hatters beating Yeovil in the first round but falling at the second hurdle with a loss to Barnet.

ONE TO WATCH

Mathew Warburton is a player for both Ashton fans and players to keep a watchful eye on when Stockport travel to Hurst Cross.

Warburton joined County in May of 2017 and contributed 21 goals in 45 appearances in his first season for the club.

Warburton 26, has also been a mad hatter this season scoring 10 goals in 24 appearances this season.

Warburton has played for multiple Manchester based clubs with the striker having represented Salford and Curzon Ashton.

LAST TIME THE SIDES MET

The last time Ashton played Stockport was last season as part of a pre-season friendly.

The game ended 1-0 to Ashton United with two penalties for both teams.
