Amazing Fightback From Spirited Ashton Claws A Point From Tigers Report Steve Lee

Ashton United staged an amazing fightback to take a point from their visit to Worksop Town as they came back from a three goal deficit early in the second half.
The Robins began the game in confident mood but had Chris Cheetham to thank as he produced an early save with his legs to deflect a Lee Beeson header away.
His opposite number, Sean Cuff was almost left red-faced as his poor clearance fell to Ian Bennett, whose instant shot went wide of an open goal from 35-yards out.
Cuff was then tested as Craig Robinson let fly from well outside the area, the keeper managed to tip the ball over the bar as it headed for the top corner.
The resulting corner from Mark Peers saw Robinson get to the ball first, but his header under pressure went over the bar.
Former Worksop striker Kevin Sanasy received a pass from Bennett, but his shot went wide.
The home side had good claims for a penalty as left back Owain Warlow produced a mazy run with great speed and close control, before falling over in the area, the referee adjudged that he had taken a dive and was issued with a yellow card.
Town began to get on top and after Cheetham could only punch a corner from Beeson, Steve Mellson blazed over.
Tigers next attack was to prove more productive as Chris Wood sent over a cross that was headed home at the far post by Jamie Jackson.
Peers had the chance to hit back as he cut inside from the left wing, but his shot went wide.
Worksop made it two goals in just three minutes as another good run from Warlow saw him put Massiah McDonald through, Cheetham did get a hand on the shot, but the ball rolled into the net.
Cheetham did well to tip a free kick from Warlow and then he clawed a shot from Craig King away to keep Ashton in the game.
The Tigers needed a couple of minutes of the second half to grab a third goal as the Ashton defence was sliced open and Jackson produced a confident finish.
Matt Young saw a shot from the edge of the area rattle the foot of the post, the rebound was put in, but Ashton were relieved to see the flag of the assistant referee for offside.
The Robins got a foothold in the game when Bennett's clever pass sent Chris Amadi in and he raced on the left and gave Cuff no chance with a thunderous drive.
Bennett tried his luck from long range after Cuff punched a Peers corner away and then Amadi's cushioned header fell into the path of Kyle Harrop, who went for glory from 25-yards, but it went harmlessly over the bar.
In between, Kern Miller got on the end of a free kick by Beeson, but his header went over the bar.
Ashton clawed another goal back when Town failed to deal with a Peers corner, Sanasy pulled the ball back across the face of goal and substitute Aaron Burns fired home to give the Robins hope.
An end to end game saw Worksop continue to look dangerous when on the attack and Cheetham did well to save low down from Warlow and the same player set up Mellson, whose shot rebounded to safety off the post.
Young wasted another chance to clinch the game for Worksop, but through on goal, dragged his shot wide.
In the final minute Ashton were awarded a free kick just outside the area, Peers shot was saved low down by Cuff, the ball rebounded to Burns, but his shot was blocked by a last ditch block from a defender.
The resulting corner from Peers produced Ashton's equaliser as Worksop could only clear to Bennett, he sent in a shot that took a deflection off McDonald, the ball looped over the stranded keeper off the bar and into the net to complete a fine comeback.
Five minutes of injury time saw both sides go in search for a winner, but both had to be content with a point, one gained from an Ashton perspective, but two dropped by the hosts.
ASHTON: Cheetham, Harrop, Roberts (Burns 59), Lambert, Frost, Robinson, Sherlock (Kosylo 52), Bennett, Sanasy (Middleton 84), Amadi, Peers. (subs not used) Rose, B Smith
