Dawson Departs

By David Hills-Taylor

In his latest blog piece, manager Danny Johnson has announced the departure of Liam Dawson from the club.

Dawson originally joined the club on loan from Oldham Athletic during the 2009/10 season, before making the move permanent in the Summer of 2010. He has however struggled to perform consistently this season and the manager explained his decision to let him go.

‘Liam hasn’t reached the standards I would have expected from a player who has been a professional footballer. There is no doubt in his ability, no doubt whatsoever. He is a talented player with a super left foot but I didn’t manage to get the best out of him on a consistent basis. To be fair to the lad he has played out of position at left back and he has done a really good job for us over the last couple of years. I just felt that it was the right time for him to experience a new challenge and I sincerely wish him all the very best for the future.’
