120th Year Celebrations

120th Year Starts With A Bang..

Our opening home fixtures of the season at Barracks Lane got off to a flying start. It marked us kicking off our clubs 120th year Celebrations in style.

The senior sides started the day with a club photo to mark the occasion, followed by the opening of our new memorial wall where family and friends of our inductees attended.
All 3 senior sides were at home and notched 2 out of 3 wins with the 1st XV thrashing Yatton RFC 51-26 and the 2nd XV beating a very competitive Fairford RFC 31-24. The 3rd XV lost to local rivals Saracens but positively had 22 players at their disposal.
The day gave members a rare chance to catch up with old faces during good entertainment by local star Tod Phelan.

The good fortune followed on to the Sunday as our eldest two age groups also both had success.
The under 16's came from behind at half time 17-7 to clinch the game in the final moments 26-24 Vs Wells RFC & the under 15's beat a well drilled Winscombe RFC side 42-31.

Club Chairman Ted Britton said 'It was a great day for the club with the 3 teams being fielded at home, notching 2 wins on the board!
There were plenty of positive comments from ex players/families and visitors regarding the celebration day and the memorial wall.
A big thanks to the following for there input in the build-up and on the day for making it a success Nick Venn, Rodney, Brian, Grant, Lisa Hooper, Dean & Josh Krupa, Lucy O'B, Vicky Allen, Steve Dixon, Sally, Kate our bar staff.
And finally thank you to all the players/ex players/members and spectators that supported the day/night'.
