Hanwell Town 2 Aylesbury FC 3

FC ventured to the London suburbs for the second successive Saturday and once again, they returned to Buckinghamshire with all three points.

Despite falling behind to a Hanwell goal, FC recovered well and responded with three goals of their own. An injury time goal for the home side caused one of two moments of concern but in the end, the Moles had done enough to earn the win.

FC brushed the outside of the post with the first move of the match as Kerran Lataille hit a decent enough strike from around 15 yards. Aston Goss then swung in a cross shot which home keeper Sam Bunting was grateful to hold onto. Town’s Alfie Cain could have had a little more luck with a snapped effort on 12 minutes before ex Mole Glen Yala saw his blast blocked bravely by Jordan Jenkins.

Charlie Mitchell is one to watch judging by today’s performance. FC keeper Ashley Jenkins somehow prevented a Mitchell goal with his shins. There was nothing Jenkins could do to prevent the winger giving his side the lead a few minutes later, as the winger broke into the box before hitting a rasping shot into the net.

Lataille’s blocked shot hinted at a comeback. Garry Jones was the next FC man to have a strike and the full back was unlucky to see Bunting push his effort round the post. Lataille then snatched at the ball when he really needed to compose himself as his effort sailed over the bar. In the 39th minute however, FC did receive their reward for their hard work. Ty Deacon was adjudged to have been tripped. A penalty was awarded and up stepped the ever reliable Brian Haule to casually sweep home the equaliser.

The second half’s first chance fell to home captain Oliver Duffy who was perhaps a little too casual when sidefooting the ball the wrong side of the post rather than on target. A delicate guided shot from Peter Dean also drifted wide as the home side made a positive start.All was in vain nevertheless when Ty Deacon scored a worldie of a goal. With his back to the goal, the striker swivelled and lifted the ball over the keeper from the outside of the box and into the net. The goal’s quality was that good that the deserved applause came not only from the FC contingent but also from the home fans too.

FC further extended their lead on 70 minutes. Hanwell had employed an offside trap to good effect but the trap was blown wide open as Brian Haule played an inch perfect pass to the galloping Aston Goss. Bunting advanced but Goss saw a chink of light and coolly tapped the ball under the keeper’s body and into an empty net.

A home free kick deep into the minimum of four minutes added time saw Joe Chandiram rise at the far post to head past Jenkins and reduce the arrears. Further pressure from the home team resulted but a combination of defending and good luck allowed FC to ride the game out and claim all the spoils.
