It goes without saying that this summer has been a tough one for all involved at Aylesbury RFC following the tragic losses of Charlie Dunne & Will Travis.
This season a memorial crest will be on all three senior teams’ playing shirts so that we can remember our brothers and build a legacy they would be proud of.
As many of you will know Charlie was very keen on horology with an extensive watch collection and plans to study it at university, until he was convinced to take up the more complex gemology course. A truly talented young man with potential to go far with his passion and talent.
Will (Pinky) was everything a modern day number 9 should be. A lighting bolt pass, quick, powerful and tenacious, a leader, a complete team player with brilliance individually. He will always be remembered as a classy number 9 despite his constant willingness to play all across the back line (and flanker) when needed.
For the eagle eyed out there you’ll notice our watch face has an untraditional design with only 15 numbers on it. Charlie and Pinky will never be too far away when 15 lads take to the park in magenta and black this season.
A big thank you must go to club member, sponsor and friend Scott Buckle at Mediaport for his design work on this memorial crest, as well as the work from Dave James and others to get it finalised.
We hope having this on the shirts this season gives us time to remember while also helping us in those tough, dark times throughout the season when we just need that little bit extra.
