Another Award for Brig!

By Ruth Hornby

Club named as 'best away day experience at Step 4 of the non-league game'.

“Bamber Bridge were praised by visiting supporters for how welcoming the club is with supporters praising the clubhouse and saying how “friendly” everyone at Brig was and we want to acknowledge and thank the club for going the extra mile” Andy Walsh, FSF National Game Officer

Not content with winning promotion, Brig have also won an award for their work off the pitch.

The club have been named as the inaugural winners of the best away day experience at Step 4 of the non-league game.

The award from the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) is an extension of the FSF’s ‘Away Fans Matter Campaign’, which encourages clubs to make travelling supporters more welcome.

Recognising that facilities and resources vary at the different levels of the game the FSF sought nominations at each of Steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the National League System. A judging panel decided the winning club at each level and Bamber Bridge FC were the unanimous choice of the judges as winners in Step 4, the National League.

The winners at each level were:

Step 1 - Tranmere Rovers FC
Step 2 – Bognor Regis Town FC
Step 3 – Kings Langley FC
Step 4 – Bamber Bridge FC

FSF National Game Officer, Andy Walsh said “the FSF believes that away fans are vital to the health of the game and that all clubs should welcome visiting supporters.”

“Bamber Bridge were praised by visiting supporters for how welcoming the club is with supporters praising the clubhouse and saying how “friendly” everyone at Brig was and we want to acknowledge and thank the club for going the extra mile,” said Walsh

“Travelling supporters are vital to the atmosphere at matches and away fans bring additional revenue, improving the financial viability of our football clubs. Without away fans, grounds are far quieter, less vibrant places,” added Walsh.

“Our award acknowledges best practice and we hope that it encourages all clubs to follow the lead set this season by Bamber Bridge and all of our award winners. We want clubs to encourage to think about how the match day experience for away fans at their own club can be improved.”

Thank you to all our club staff, volunteers and supporters whose hard work and friendliness ensures that a visit to Brig is an enjoyable experience for everyone.
