Easter Weekend Match Preview

By Ruth Hornby

George Hodgson speaks to Neil Reynolds as Brig head out on the road over the Easter weekend.

““It won’t be easy but we’re hoping to come away with six points that’ll propel us into the last stage of the season. ” Neil Reynolds, BBFC Manager

Manager Neil Reynolds wants Bamber Bridge to kick on from their last outing against Hyde United, with a bumper Easter weekend next up.

Brig travel to Tadcaster Albion and Skelmersdale United in the space of three days, with back-to-back wins on the road the target for the gaffer.

“This weekend gives us the opportunity to build on a really impressive display against Hyde,” said Reno. We’re heading into the weekend full of confidence and hoping to come out the other side of it with six points.

“We know it’ll be difficult, Tadcaster are a good side at their place although they haven’t won in four and Skelmersdale gave us a tricky game when they came to our place.

“It won’t be easy but we’re hoping to come away with six points that’ll propel us into the last stage of the season"

Whilst recent matches in the EVO-STIK North have seen the automatic spots pull further out of Brig’s grasp, Reno still believes the possibility very much remains.

“I think everybody will be thinking it’s Hyde’s and South Shields’ to throw away now, but there is that third spot that we’ve talked about all season.

“We’re still chasing the top two down until someone tells us we can’t do it, it looks like Play-Offs, but my team won’t settle for that.

“We’ll be going as hard as we can from now until the end of the season, and if the points total is enough then great, but if not, we’ll have to do it the hard way via the Play-Offs."

Reno also spoke about how key momentum will be heading into the business end of the season, whether that be to seal an automatic spot, or to head into the Play-Offs in the right way.

“It’s massively important, we’ve underperformed at times this season, so momentum is key.

"If we perform like we did against Hyde on Tuesday night then we won’t far wrong between now and the end of the season.

“It’s not just about this season though, we’re building a project and if the squad can stay together and develop for next season – it’ll hopefully be in the league above."
